Some time ago I started a database about the Mosin Nagant sniper rifle, with the purpose to to determine what cyrillic letter prefixes were assigned. Now I have several serial numbers of known genuine snipers, ex-snipers, restored ex-sniper etc.

The numerous models and variations of Mosin rifles can be overwhelming to the new collector. Hopefully this tool will be useful in sorting out these fascinating pieces of history. The answer for each model is linked to the corresponding page in the Mosin Nagant Models section which has more in depth information.

Alb, i'm about to go out of town but i will try to post the info on my 1944 izhevsk and 1943 tula. If you want info on snipers of different origin i can post the info on my 1953 and 1954 m52 and my vz54. I would personally like to see a database for the m52's and vz54's if you are doing those as i find them most interesting.n10sivern, Thanks again! Yes, I'm doing some researches about hungarian 91/30 sniper rifles and czech vz54 also. ( and all the Mosin Nagant sniper rifles, such the various finn models, the rare zg 51-91-30 (obtained from Soviet 91/30 sniper rifles), the recent vz 54/90 etc.) The Hungarian m52 used only one prefix, 'BC', but I found some intresting differences between the serial number sequence. So please, send me your numbers.
Also I found some very intresting new features on these beatiful Hungarian made sniper rifles.but this is another story that I'll post on this forum one day. Also the vz54 SN is welcome!!!! Warmest regards.
1944 Izhevsk 91/30 PU Serial number in English: PV 5148 This is a SAMCO import,it was scopeless when I got it. Bolt number matches, others are mismatched. Original scope number was B-69894. It's wearing scope B-103690 currently.
1943 Izhevsk 91/30 PU Ex-Sniper Serial number in English: MN 4394 Stamped matching from refurb. Scope number ground completly off. Typical ex-sniper in laminate stock. 1943 Tula 91/30 PU Ex-sniper Serial number in English: NO 274 Stamped matching from refurb. Scope number ground partially.Last 2 numbers are 94 Otherwise typical ex-sniper in laminate stock.
Regards Chris. How about a nice 1943 Izhevsk MO double dated PU 'ex'-sniper? Serial number is (English translation) DB 4346, MO marked and dated 1943/50, with the '50' lined out. Original scope serial number on barrel shank buffed off and unreadable, although traces of the numbers remain. Rifle is early Century import with small 'CAI Georgia Vt.' Import marking on barrel, and is one of the ones imported from Albania around 2000 - I got this one from Mark Kelly about that time. If I recall correctly, this one had a genuine, original (but not matching to rifle serial number) sniper bolt in it when Mark found it, which it still has.I bought a few 'ex'-snipers from Mark back then and one definitely had an original sniper bolt in it, and I think this is the one.
Floorplate and buttplate numbered 4346, bolt is a genuine original Izhevsk sniper bolt with serial number (English translation) GK 1332. Stock is correct 1943 Izhevsk style with the stamped and folded sheet metal 'half-liners' in the sling slots, and is a patched former sniper stock.
All other parts are correct Izhevsk marked. The scope and mount setup I chose for this one is correct original WW2 Izhevsk marked mount and the scope is a nice 1943 dated 'Progress' SVT style PU scope, serial number A 32330 with a 'triangle/25' refurb mark and matching original inspection document with 1950 date.naturally, I chose this scope setup for this rifle because the 1950 date on the scope paperwork goes so well with the 1950 MO date on the barrel shank. Here are my two: 1) 1944 Tula PU. English s/n DI839 CH marked from RGuns. SVT scope number scratched out but it looks like no. A0634 dated 1942 with CB on turret and refurb marking P[]N. All numbers match with prefixes and stock is Tula 1944 marked.
Tang is dated 1944. All parts are Tula marked including barrel bands and bolt. 2) 1944 Izhvesk PU.
English s/n PV605 Samco scopeless Sniper with Yugo cleaning rod. Tang dated 1944. Original scope number is 4410196. All matching numbers with prefixes. Stock appears original blonde wood with BP124 inside of triangle cartouche.
All parts are Izhvesk marked including barrel bands and bolt.
