Program Tempurpedic Ergo Remote
Happened on March 30, 2009. My husbands remote and my remote went out at the same time, just a few min.
Programming an additional remote to operate our TempurPedic Ergo Plus adjustable bed was not very intuitive, so here are the instructions on how to add another remote.
The power-down box under the beds are working or so it seems because the red light is lit-up. Tempurpedic walked us through the instructions over the phone but that didn't work. Two new remotes are on the way but until then, I have been sleeping in a recliner for the last 4-5 days. I wonder how much longer I can last. Happened on March 30, 2009. Tempurpedic walked us through the instructions over the phone but that didn't work. Two new remotes are on the way but until then, I have been sleeping in a recliner for the last 4-5 days. I wonder how much longer I can last. I've become frustrated with warranty support for this product, because I'm unable to get consistent responses from the support representatives.
Because I have two of these system, I've been able to precisely identify my problem by swapping parts between the systems. I have a bad control box (receiver, not remote), and now I'm simply interested in bypassing the wireless remote functionality and using a wired controller to manipulate the bed.
Has anyone devised a method for doing that? I've become frustrated with warranty support for this product, because I'm unable to get consistent responses from the support representatives. (below) fails to work, locate the black power down box under the bed. Check the battery compartment and remove all batteries. If batteries are installed they will prevent a full reset of the box. Unplug the power cord, wait 45 seconds and plug the power cord back in to reset the electronic components. Replace batteries. Now that the error has been wiped from the box's memory, you can now synchronize your remote with the power down box using Susan's instructions below.
- Mike V., Antioch, CA 'Locate the power down box for the bed and press the 'learn button' for 1 second and release (Black box under the bed). On the hand control, simultaneously press and hold the position 1 and off buttons. The transmission indicator light will flash slowly and then flash rapidly. Continue to hold for 5 seconds and then release the buttons.
It should now work! Susan R., Paducah, KY' For further assistance, refer to the user manual that came with your TEMPUR® Advanced Ergo System™ or you can download it here. My remote / box / motor all manufactured 12/2004 so the current manual did not help me.
BTW the 'OFF' button referred to by Susan in the vibration off button which is a circle with a line through it. There are no 'OFF' labeled buttons on the old remotes. As I recall when speaking to a Leggett and Platt representative regarding the replacement of the motor assembly, I was informed that the electronic components of these adjustable beds are very sensitive to power spikes and surges that occur regularly in many households. One precaution to take with any piece of expensive electronic equipment in your home is to purchase an Outlet Surge Protector or better yet a Power/Line Conditioner with battery backup. Although line conditioners can themselves be very expensive, they will provide clean, regulated power to your most precious electronics.
In most cases though, a simple surge protector is sufficient to prevent any damage to your electonic components. Get one and plug your bed into it. It CAN save your investment. I have tried all of these things and also use a power surge. My bed is still not moving at all. Very aggravatung as I need the various motions in order to sleep. I would greatly appreciate any help I could get in getting my bed to work.

I am printing and filing this now. My Remote is from 2005. Here is what I had to do: Tempurpedic Remote Control reset instructions:The 'learn' button also operates the power-down function of the power down box found under the bed.
First, push the learn button for one second. Next, simultaneously push and hold down the 'Position 1 Button' and the 'Massage On/Off '(circle with the slash across it) buttons. The transmission indicator lamp on the remote will begin to flash slowly then very rapidly.
After five-seconds elapses from the start of the rapid flashing sequence, release both buttons. The remote should now be synchronized with the adjustable bed and the adjustable bed operation restored.

Go to their web site. Look up the owner and remote control manuals appropriate for your bed, download and save for the future. Follow the instructions for reprogramming the remote control.
If you have an old-school bed the ER-95MR remote control manual may be the one to use. The bed will have either a J-box on the bottom of the bed frame or a power-down box that contains two 9-volt batteries. Either box will have a push button (the 'learn' button which also operates the power-down function of the power down box). First, push the learn button for one second. Next simultaneously push and hold down the 'Flat Button' and the 'Head Massage On/Off' buttons. The transmission indicator lamp on the remote will begin to flash slowly then very rapidly.
After five-seconds elapses from the start of the rapid flashing sequence release both buttons. The remote should now be synchronized with the adjustable bed and the adjustable bed operation restored.

After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have. Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack.
Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site Check this site too. Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.
May 07, 2015 . We have a Tempur-pedic. Each side is controlled by its own remote. It also has battery backup for each side (head and foot) in case the power goes out.
We simply push a little button on the battery controlled box on whichever side needs lowered. It works to lower them, but they cannot be raised in a power outage. If you don't have something like that, or a manual crank or something, I suggest you call the company and ask THEM what to do. If it's stuck with the power still on, then even more reason to call the company. Apr 23, 2014 .
